Introduction to Home Dental Care
Understanding Home Dental Care

We firmly believe that home dental care has the potential to transform patients’ lives and holds profound significance.
Although it is neither profitable nor without considerable fatigue, I have remained steadfast in promoting this service.
Regrettably, awareness of home dental care is still limited, leaving many who are in need without access to the necessary resources.
I sincerely hope everyone can assist by sharing this informational guide, so that more individuals in need may benefit from home dental care services.

📍What is Home Dental Care?
Eligible patients may apply through the hospital, after which the attending dentist will, at the scheduled time, bring the necessary equipment directly to the patient’s residence to provide dental treatment. Patients are not required to leave their homes and need only remain available to receive care, as all other arrangements and procedures are managed by the dentist.

📍Who is eligible to apply?
Eligibility falls into two main categories:
1. Persons with severe or greater physical/mental disabilities
2. Elderly with disabilities (Long-Term Care 2.0 program)
In general, any patient unable to go to a dental clinic independently is within the scope for home medical services.

📍Is Home Dental Care more expensive than a regular clinic visit?
Home Dental Care is not more expensive than a regular clinic visit. In fact, the cost is the same as that of a regular clinic visit.
Although the expenses and effort involved in providing home medical care are significantly higher compared to standard clinical services, we neither will nor should pass these additional costs onto patients in need. Therefore, the treatment fees remain unchanged.
Platform Overview of Home Dental Care
Home dental medical services have been implemented for 11 years to date. Beginning last year, the program was renamed the “Home-Based Dental Medical Service Program.” Dentists may independently accept cases; however, only those who have completed both basic and advanced home dental medical training credits are eligible to apply. On the patient side, only individuals with severe or greater physical and mental disabilities, or bedridden patients receiving home care under the Long-Term Care 2.0 program, qualify to apply for free home dental services. Unfortunately, because the general public and families often do not know where to apply, we established this platform to provide more people with access to information regarding home dental care services. This is the original purpose of our platform.
If there is uncertainty about whether a patient meets the criteria for free home dental care services, users may upload relevant disability documentation to our platform. We will assist in assessing eligibility and will also help refer patients to dentists providing home services in various counties and cities. Our goal is to reduce the application process and waiting times, enabling more patients to benefit.
Regarding dentists, we offer free instructional and training videos on this website so that everyone can learn about home dental care services at no cost. Furthermore, for dentists in New Taipei City and Taipei City who are willing to provide home dental care, we offer free rental of equipment and manpower support. Dentists may submit equipment rental requests or manpower needs through our platform. This enables dentists to participate in home dental care services with minimal barriers, alleviating concerns about purchasing additional equipment and preventing them from foregoing home dental care services. This is also a key purpose of our platform.
We hope our home dental care platform will soon provide patients in need, their families, and dentists interested in learning about home dental services with a channel for mutual communication and support. We aim for home dental care services across Taiwan to no longer be regarded as merely charitable acts, but rather as a widely participated professional service—delivering the most timely and effective home dental medical care to nearly one million people with physical and mental disabilities throughout Taiwan.
